Foundation Classes

Starting your dog on the right path is one of the most rewarding things you can do, and that’s exactly what our Foundation Classes are designed for. Whether you have a tiny new puppy or an older dog who’s new to training, these six-week sessions give your dog the confidence, skills, and social smarts they need to thrive.

These aren’t your usual “sit and stay” lessons. We focus on connection, communication, and making training genuinely fun for both of you. Your dog will learn the basics—sit, recall, loose lead walking—but in a way that feels like play, exploration, and teamwork rather than chores. Along the way, we help them build confidence in new environments, around other dogs, and with everyday distractions, so they feel secure, happy, and curious instead of nervous or overwhelmed.

Foundation Classes run either Saturday mornings or Monday evenings, 45 minutes per session, over six weeks. By the end of the course, your dog won’t just have the basics—they’ll have the solid foundation they need to move into our Sports or Scent classes, where they can continue learning, challenging themselves, and having a blast.

We believe in learning through positive experiences, fun games, and real-life practice. Every session gives your dog a chance to problem-solve, engage their mind, and explore the world with confidence. And it’s not just about your dog—these classes give you the tools to read your dog’s body language, respond in ways that build trust, and enjoy every moment together.

Joining our Foundation Classes also means joining a friendly, supportive community of dog owners. Everyone is learning together, celebrating each success, and sharing the ups and downs of dog training. By the end of the six weeks, you’ll not only have a more confident, happier dog—you’ll also be part of a welcoming club that continues into our Sports and Scent classes, where the fun and challenges keep going.

Sports Classes

Our sports classes welcome dogs of all personalities and energy levels. Confident, lively, thoughtful, steady—every dog is celebrated here. In small groups of five, dogs work side by side in a lively mix of gundog skills, obedience, hoopers, and body conditioning. We adapt every exercise to suit each dog, and we can add variety or extra challenges when a dog is ready to stretch a little further. It’s all about enjoyment, progress, and partnership.

Classes take place entirely in our training yard, using the indoor barn, courtyard, and paddock in the warmer months. Owners are right there with their dogs, learning and joining in the fun, all within a space that’s designed for freedom, movement, and focus.

Weekly classes run as ongoing sessions—dogs and owners join when there’s a space and keep building skills over time. Every session is structured yet flexible, ensuring each dog is appropriately challenged and supported. We encourage progress in a positive, enjoyable way, helping dogs develop coordination, focus, and confidence while keeping the sessions fun and rewarding.

For those looking to dive deeper, we also offer short series and monthly gundog workshops. These give dogs and owners the chance to focus on particular skills, refine handling, and explore new challenges—all while keeping the energy high and the experience enjoyable. It’s about celebrating each dog’s personality, pushing skills in a playful way, and strengthening the partnership between dog and handler, session by session.

Scent Detection Classes

Our scent classes are for every kind of dog—opinionated, exuberant, focused, or just plain curious. Each dog brings their own energy, and we celebrate that. Classes are held in small groups, with dogs working individually to search for their own target scent, like, single strands of tea, teeny pieces of licorice root, or ground marshmallow root. Exercises are adapted to suit each dog, and we can offer variety to stretch skills and keep the work engaging. We encourage progress in a positive, supportive way, building confidence and focus at every step.

Weekly classes run for 90 minutes in our full training yard, using the barn, courtyard, paddock, stables, aisleways, and surrounding fields. The space is varied and interesting, giving dogs plenty of mental stimulation while we guide and support their learning. Each session is structured so dogs are challenged without pressure, and handlers develop a strong, skilled partnership with their dog.

Our monthly workshops take scent work to the next level. Held at a variety of unusual and exciting locations—museums, builders’ yards, storage facilities, churches, and even paintball forts—these sessions are designed to test skills, focus, and teamwork in ways that keep both dogs and handlers engaged and learning. Each workshop is a rolling series; you pick a class time that fits and continue building skills alongside your dog over time.

For club members, we run a monthly scent trial with four levels, each carefully designed to measure progress, handling skills, and partnership. These are challenging, structured, and fun—giving you and your dog a chance to apply everything you’ve learned in a supportive, real-world setting.

With years of experience and a reputation for skilled, dynamic teaching, we’re proud to offer a scent program that’s accessible, challenging, and rewarding for all dogs, while giving handlers the knowledge and confidence to keep developing their dog’s skills long after the class ends.

Mantrailing Classes

Mantrailing is the ultimate adventure for dogs who love to use their brains and noses. It’s all about following a human scent trail, reading subtle cues in the environment, and working as a team with your dog. Every dog can do it—confident, curious, playful, or focused—and we celebrate each dog’s unique way of working.

Our weekly sessions and workshops are designed for progression, giving dogs and handlers a chance to develop real skills over time. We don’t stay in one place; we travel to a variety of locations to work on different terrain and interesting scent puzzles. This variety challenges dogs, encourages problem-solving, and gives handlers the chance to refine communication, handling skills, and reading body language. Exercises are adapted for each dog, offering just the right mix of challenge, engagement, and support.

With years of hands-on experience—including service on a search and rescue team, a Skills for Justice award in mantrailing, and two of my own dogs certified—we bring expertise, structure, and enthusiasm to every session. Our mantrailing program is all about building confidence, focus, and a strong partnership, giving both dogs and handlers the skills and insight to enjoy every trail to its fullest.

Gundog Intro & Workshops

Our gundog classes are for every kind of dog—any breed, any age, whether steady and focused or just discovering their energy. Each dog brings their own personality, and we celebrate that.

Gundog Intro Series

This series is designed for complete beginners. Over three weeks, small groups of five dogs explore the foundations of gundog training: steadiness, focus, retrieve patterns, and general skills. Classes last 45 minutes and are held in our barn, courtyard, or paddock, giving dogs a varied, stimulating environment.

The series is relaxed but purposeful. We focus on teaching the basics thoroughly and building confidence in both dog and handler. Every exercise is explained, demonstrated, and supported so you can continue practicing at home.
Monthly Gundog Workshops

For those ready to expand their skills, our monthly workshops run as a series throughout the year. Groups of six dogs meet for two-hour sessions (with a break), on Saturdays or Sundays, to explore all aspects of gundog work.

The workshops are hands-on, engaging, and highly supportive. We cover every skill, building and developing techniques as a group, while giving individual guidance to each dog and handler. Each session is followed by a printed guide from Erin, detailing every exercise as a prompt or reminder for training at home. Members also have access to a friendly Facebook group to share progress, tips, and encouragement.

Class Style & Approach

We teach in a way that is dynamic, inclusive, and structured to match each dog’s needs. Classes are varied, fun, and rewarding, encouraging progression at a pace that suits both dog and handler. Our aim is to build confidence, focus, and a genuine partnership — helping dogs enjoy the work while owners feel skilled, capable, and proud.

Whether you’re starting out or looking to develop advanced skills, our gundog classes provide practical, real-world exercises, delivered with experience, care, and plenty of guidance.
